He moved to the United States from the Soviet Union (Ukraine) at the age of 15.

Lee was one of the auditions for Megadeth in 1989 when they were looking for a new guitarist. He reportedly declined this offer because of Dave Mustaine’s drug addiction at the time.

He currently uses ESP guitars and ENGL amps. In the past he used Jackson King V guitars and MESA/Boogie amps.
