Before joining The Offspring, Noodles played in a local band called Clowns of Death. He was allegedly in The Offspring because he was the only person old enough to provide alcohol for the rest of the members. He earned the nickname \u00ab\u00a0Noodles\u00a0\u00bb for his frequent\u00a0<em>noodling<\/em>\u00a0on the guitar. At one of the band&rsquo;s earlier shows, he was stabbed in the shoulder by a skinhead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the band&rsquo;s early days, Noodles worked as a janitor at Earl Warren Elementary School in\u00a0Garden Grove. Before\u00a0<em>Smash<\/em>\u00a0was released, he had been planning to quit the band, but the surprising success of \u00ab\u00a0Come Out and Play\u00a0\u00bb forced him to reconsider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On their DVD release\u00a0<em>Huck It<\/em>\u00a0(2000), as part of a mock interview, Noodles claims to like the \u00ab\u00a0finer things in life\u00a0\u00bb, such as red wine, classical music, cigarettes, poetry and pasta.
